A new tradition

So I love traditions. I love the fact I can say I have been to my Aunt's house for 32 Christmas Eve's. So I wanted to start my own tradition in my family. I have heard of many people getting new matching pj's for Christmas so I decided that sounded fun and headed out to find the perfect ones. This ended up being harder than I thought. I couldn't decide whether they should be Christmas themed or just winter themed or even just color coordinated. I should have just figured out what I was able to find first and that would have been easier. I finally decided on a penguin theme for our 1st go. I washed and wrapped five pairs of pajamas so when we got home from Aunt Mag's we could open them and put them on. Of course at Aunt Mag's both girls received frilly princess nightgowns so I was a little worried about their excitement matching mine when we got home. It went okay....Gracie complained a little about pants because she only likes dresses but I think once Mommy and Daddy were wearing penguins they thought it was kind of funny. I think they are still a little young to get the whole tradition thing but maybe in a few years they will want to rush home on Christmas Eve to see what kind of pj's the family has that year. I wasn't able to make it in the picture but you get the idea.

Mary and the Angel

The girls had a program at their preschool for Christmas. When they first told me Rylie had been chosen to be Mary I kind of panicked. Would she go on the stage? Would she be able to remember a line? Would anyone be able to understand what she was saying? Later that evening after thinking all day about it I said YES she can do it, I am not going to hold her back from this. A little bribery and I had her convinced too. She walked around the house for weeks saying her line "Let it be with me just as you say." Everytime we came upon a nativity she would pick out Mary and say "that's me" She did great, went on the stage without hesitating. Not sure we understood what she said but it was definitely cute. I am sure it helped that they practiced ALOT. I caught her doing this when we were getting ready, it was not provoked at all....too funny!

I thought Gracie would be a bit jealous that Rylie was getting a "leading role" but it helped that the week before in church Gracie was center stage reciting a bible verse. She was just excited because she got a cute new dress and tights for the program. Then it turns out they had to put a gown on top of it anyway. She had lots of fun and didn't miss a word of The First Noel. She is definitely a performer.
The Christmas program was great, can't wait to go to the end of the year one too!

I think I can do this

Well after reading everyone elses blogs all the time I thought to myself, Wow I should do this too. I have been thinking and thinking of the perfect name and never could come up with one but I am tired of putting it off so here we are. Now the true test will be to see if I can keep up with it.
